The pilot’s home is located in London, on land worth £16.5 million, about R$103 million, in 2017. Controversy exists because the property is registered to a company based in the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean.

It should be noted that tax havens exempt their owners from tax collection. Hamilton owns two properties in the area and has two others similarly registered in the UK. The pilot’s crew claim measures have been taken to preserve the racing star’s privacy and have said the current scenario gives the pilot no advantage in paying UK taxes.

– Ownership of Lewis Hamilton properties in the UK through listed companies registered in foreign property does not give you any tax or other financial advantage. Lewis supports the new register, as evidenced by the inclusion of British estates and related companies, along with their de facto ownership in the register.

The case had major repercussions after the pilot’s last speech in which he spoke about the division of capital in the world. Hamilton pointed out that there should be a limit to the amount of money a person has.

– You don’t have to have billions. There should be a limit to the amount of money anyone can have, because there should be enough for everyone. So somehow there has to be a law that creates more equality and access for everyone, although I don’t know how that can be done, Hamilton said.
