Legendary English soccer goalkeeper signs with the Irish Hockey Team

Cech signs with a new hockey team

This Wednesday (15) one of the most legendary goalkeepers in football history announced his new decision regarding his hockey career. Former Chelsea and Arsenal player Petr Cech has been confirmed as a new player for Belfast Giants, an Irish ice sports team.

The club’s official statement read: “We are very grateful for the support of Oxford City Stars as well as Peter himself. He is a highly awarded athlete and knows what it takes to play at the highest level. Their assistance during this loan period will be invaluable.” The club.

Petr Cech made Premier League history with Chelsea for 11 seasons. At the Blues, the former goalkeeper won the Champions League and Europa League, as well as four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three Premier League Cups and an English Super Cup.

Cech left Chelsea to join rivals Arsenal in 2015 and stayed at Arsenal for three seasons, winning the FA Cup and FA Super Cup twice. The former goalkeeper retired in May 2019.


The Belfast Giants are one of the biggest ice hockey teams in the United Kingdom and are also the current champions of the country. Cech moves on loan to Irish club Oxford City Stars.
