Indigenous health in SUS will be the topic of a workshop

This activity will be carried out thanks to a partnership with the Indigenous Program of the Health Sciences Center

A workshop focusing on the humane care of Indigenous patients in the Unified Health System (SUS) will be held in the auditorium of Roraima Rubens de Sousa General Hospital (HGR) next Monday, 31, through the Department of Health (Sesau).

Targeting indigenous health coordinators and professionals from health units, the activity will be carried out thanks to a partnership with the Indigenous Program of the Health Sciences Center of the Federal University of Roraima (UFRR).

“In addition to this audience, this activity will also include professionals working at HGR, Hospital das Clínicas, [Pronto Atendimento] Cosme e Silva, Materno Infantil Hospital and the Indigenous Provinces of the East and Yanomami, as well as guests from Boa Vista Health, reported the Indigenous Health Center coordinator at HGR, Patricia Oliveira.

According to the coordinator, the idea is to improve the understanding of professionals who work directly in the healthcare field for Indigenous patients, and give them the necessary knowledge about their routines.

“We have to train ourselves more and more every day to deal with these different peoples that have their own peculiarities. We live in a country with 11% indigenous people and we don’t know how to deal with them, and the goal of this training is to provide a humane and differentiated service, as well as the indigenous health subsystem” , Oliveira.

The number of participants will be determined by the units themselves and the activity will last for two days, i.e. it is expected to end on November 1.
