“We strongly oppose unsubstantiated and absurd allegations made by foreigners in various statements against the Hong Kong Special Administration Regional Government,” Special Regional Officers said in a statement on Friday. According to Global News, on Thursday, London and Washington issued two separate statements with similar conclusions, accusing Hong Kong of eroding political rights and freedoms under Beijing’s rule.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blingen also commented, accusing the Chinese Communist Party of undermining Hong Kong’s democratic institutions.
