Almost two months of the baffling match between Brazil and Argentina ends (see photo gallery below)
, at the Neo Química Arena, which ended up being suspended after Anvisa’s intervention, FIFA President Gianni Infantino spoke about the episode.

On a visit to the neighboring country, the Swiss-Italian said that what happened in that meeting, valid for the sixth round of South American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, is still pending.

“It is a pending issue under FIFA’s disciplinary status. The bodies are independent and respond to the rules. What happened cannot go unnoticed,” he said.

Remember the case

Anfisa boycotted the Brazil-Argentina match, which was held at the New Coimica Arena, in Sao Paulo, for the World Cup qualifiers. Four minutes into the match, agency officials entered the stadium and forced the match to be stopped by four Argentine players, who entered Brazil without committing to the quarantine period.

Emiliano Martinez, Emiliano Buendia, Giovanni Lo Celso and Christian Romero have entered the country irregularly, having not reported their visit to the UK before. Therefore, the athletes should have completed the quarantine and they did not.

At the moment, Brazil leads the qualifiers with 31 points, while Argentina, second in the lead, has 25 points.
