England announced on Wednesday (8) that it will join the United States, Canada and Australia in a diplomatic boycott of the Chinese Winter Games in 2022.

And the White House announced last Monday that US officials will not attend the event, although it does not prevent the athletes from the delegation from participating. The motive is the numerous violations of international human rights treaties caused by the Beijing government, which the government has classified as “atrocities”.

There will be an effective boycott of the Beijing Games. “No minister or official should be present,” British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said.

“I don’t think the sports boycott makes sense, and this remains the government’s policy,” the prime minister added.

news agency Reuters It was reported that China did not send any invitations to British ministers.

“The Beijing Winter Olympics is a gathering of Olympic athletes and winter sports fans from all over the world, and is not a tool of any country’s political manipulation,” said a Chinese diplomatic representative.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also announced today that Canada will also join the boycott.

Many partners around the world are deeply concerned about the repeated human rights violations committed by the Chinese government. For this reason, we announced today that we will not send any diplomatic representation to the Beijing Olympics,” the Canadian Prime Minister said at a press conference.
