Silverstone, United Kingdom Finnish Valtteri Bottas of Alfa Romeo was fastest in the first free practice session of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, which was held on Friday at Silverstone.

In the rain, Bottas beat his former Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton by 532ppt, with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc finishing third and fourth, respectively.

Defending F1 world champion and captain Max Verstappen was one of ten drivers who didn’t spend much time, as was his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez and Britain’s George Russell (Mercedes).

With the wet track, no driver ran more than a few laps in this first session, which ended with a red flag, after Canadian Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) lost control of the car and left the track.
