After a multi-billion dollar deal with MLS, Apple is considering offering Premier League broadcast rights

a apple Consider submitting an offer to Premier League broadcast rights. The tech giant sealed a multi-billion dollar deal with MLS last season and has plans to ramp up investments in the sport. The bidding process for the Premier League will begin in the second half of this year and refers to the cycle from the 2025/26 season.

The information was published by Bloomberg. According to the report, the package in question will allow Apple to show Premier League matches in the UK, as well as games from the lower leagues of the English Football League.

Apple’s interest is increasing competition with Amazon Prime Video, which has held the rights to broadcast the Premier League since 2019. The current deal expires in the 2024/25 season, but the platform is expected to enter bidding to retain the rights.

The MLS deal underscores the importance of live sports to Apple. In all, the company will pay US$2.5 billion for the exclusive rights to broadcast North American Soccer League over the next ten years.
