Can you imagine living for seven months with Covid-19? This is what happened to Welshman Ian Lister (37). The man recovered from the disease only after taking two doses of Pfizer. The case was reported in a scientific journal called Journal of Clinical Immunology.

Lister was born with Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS), which causes rare genetic immune deficiency. Practically speaking, your body has a hard time fighting infection, so even a common cold can last longer than usual. That’s how it was with Covid-19: Once he tested positive for the disease, he didn’t leave his body anymore, even treatment with a vaccine.

According to the patient’s own reports, the symptoms worsen the longer the virus remains in the body, causing him to suffer from fatigue, insomnia, headaches and chest tightness. Lister further noted that each positive test led to despair and anxiety.

“Slowly, my house became a prison, especially when summer came and everyone else was lifted. I was able to see family and friends start returning to real life, but I was still getting these positive results. Worried it was getting worse. And we don’t get rid of Never from him,” says the Welshman, in an interview with BBC News.

The treatment was carried out at Cardiff University (UK), where two doses of the vaccine were given over 21 days. 72 days after the first dose, the result of COVID-19 was negative. According to the scientific article, the formula caused an increase in the production of cells responsible for the immune response.

The Pfizer vaccine consists of an innovative technology, based on embedding mRNA (messenger RNA), which encodes the sequence that generates the S protein (spike). This protein is part of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and is responsible for stimulating our immune response. mRNA is translated with the help of our cells, amplifying the production of this protein.
