The protests lasted four months, but today is being hailed by the press as one of the biggest days of mobilization in the UK. The country faces inflation of over 10%, with this increase mainly reflected in food prices and energy costs.

In London, the subway practically stopped due to a strike by conductors. Doctors have also been mobilized from public hospitals since Monday. Government officials also joined the protest and the teachers have promised to continue the strike this Thursday. Everyone is asking for a pay rise to counter rampant inflation.

In an interview with Sky News, Mark Serwotka, general secretary of the main public sector union PCS, condemned the tens of thousands of workers who are forced to ask for help at food banks and others who “go without food”. “And A veritable scandal”, he criticized, deeming “such a state of poverty in the public sector a disgrace to the government”.

This Wednesday, the Conservative government will present the state budget to Parliament, and a demonstration has been called around Westminster.
