Labour Party of the Centre Left He confirmed his landslide victory in the British parliamentary elections after 14 years. The party exceeded the minimum number of seats needed to form a majority during the early hours of Friday (5).

The election required 326 of the 650 seats available in the UK Parliament to be won. At the time of the last update of this report, Labour had won 410 seats, compared with 119 for the Conservatives. See the numbers below.

With this victory, Keir Starmer of the Labour Party is expected to be appointed the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In his speech, he said that the term will require “huge responsibility” and promised to work immediately to improve the country.

“We have to bring politics back into public service,” he said. “And show that politics can be a force for good.”

The result is being treated by the British media as a “washout” for the Labour Party. On the other hand, the Conservative Party led by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak suffered a historic defeat.

Current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak conceded defeat and said he had called Starmer to congratulate him. He also promised a peaceful and orderly transition.
