Many people are already gathering to watch the total solar eclipse that will be seen in North America on Monday (8), in countries such as Canada, the United States and Mexico. NASA is streaming the event online for free on YouTube.
The ceremony will take place between two o'clock in the afternoon and five o'clock in the evening. In Mexico, day will turn to night for 4 minutes and 28 seconds, according to NASA. In the USA and Canada, it will be dark for 4 minutes and 26 seconds and 3 minutes and 21 seconds, respectively. The next total solar eclipse will not be visible until August 2044 in the United States.
The National Observatory, a research unit of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, is also providing live coverage of the eclipse, with commentary in Portuguese.
