    UK retail sales rose by 1.3% in November compared to October, after stagnation (0.0%) in the previous month, according to preliminary data released on Friday (22) by the Office for National Statistics (ONS, for its abbreviation in English). Compared to November last year, sales increased by 0.1%.

    In the quarter ending in November, British retail sales fell by 0.8% compared to the previous three months.

    Non-food store sales volumes rose 2.3% in November, after growing 0.2% in October. According to the survey, retailers indicated that previous Black Friday sales and broader discounts contributed to this increase.

    Sales volume in food stores increased by 0.8% in November 2023, compared to an increase of 0.1% in October 2023.

    Motor fuel sales volumes increased by 0.6% during the month, due to lower prices.

    Indirect sales volume (mostly online sales) increased by 0.2% in November 2023, after an increase of 0.5% in October 2023.
