This Wednesday (24), UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron will travel to the Middle East, with his first visit to Israel. Cameron meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and then meets with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.
The British chancellor aims to call on Netanyahu to restore water, electricity and fuel supplies to the Gaza Strip, and will also stress the UK's support for a two-state solution.
Cameron will also visit Turkey and Qatar as tensions in the Red Sea intensify and Britain's response to Houthi attacks intensifies.
Meanwhile, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Khalil al-Sisi reveals that the Rafah crossing, the border with southern Gaza, will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Al-Sisi accuses Israel of blocking the process of humanitarian aid entering the Palestinian territories, and says it is a way to pressure Tel Aviv on the issue of the release of hostages.
