    Charles III delivered his first ‘King’s Speech’ in the British Parliament on Tuesday (7) and outlined 21 pieces of legislation, including plans to combat crime, maintain public order and promote economic growth.

    At the beginning of his speech, the Moroccan king praised the “legacy of service and loyalty to this country” left behind by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8, 2022.

    He then acknowledged the “significant long-term challenges” created by the Covid-19 pandemic for the UK and Russia’s pandemic in Ukraine, and stressed that the government’s priority was to make “difficult but necessary long-term decisions to change this country for the future”. better.”

    The King also stated that the British government “will continue to take measures to reduce inflation, reduce the cost of living for families, and help companies finance new jobs and investments,” as well as support the Bank of England in controlling rising prices.     He referred to the so-called “Brexit”, which is the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union, and stressed that measures would be taken “to make the economy more competitive,” including introducing legislation “to encourage trade and investment with the economies of the region.” The fastest growing in the world.

    During the speech, the king also announced that perpetrators of serious crimes should expect “severer penalties” and police forces will be trained to “prevent new or complex crimes” such as cybercrime and sexual grooming.

    Furthermore, he added that the British government would build on last year’s Illegal Immigration Act to combat “dangerous and illegal” crossings of small boats across the English Channel. .
