The British government this Friday revealed its readiness to host the Champions League final, following the inclusion of Turkey on the list of ‘red’ trips, due to the number of daily Govt-19 cases in that country.
“We are available to host the finals, but the decision came from the UEFA. We are delighted with the decision, as the finalists are two English clubs,” British Transport Minister Grand Shops told a news conference. The Champions League final is scheduled for May 29 in Istanbul, so all Manchester City and Chelsea delegates to Turkey must comply with the 10-day isolation when they return to the UK, and British officials at hotels specifically designated for this purpose.
Shops acknowledged that “Turkey needs to be redlisted” because of the more than 20,000 daily lawsuits that have taken place in the country, and confirmed that travel will only be allowed under exceptional circumstances, which does not include elite athletes, as is the case with professional footballers.
The Govt-19 epidemic has caused at least 3,258,595 deaths worldwide, resulting in more than 155.9 million infections, according to a report released by the French company AFP.
Turkey has so far reported nearly five million epidemics and more than 42,000 deaths from Kovit-19.
