From January to May, the number of passengers handled at national airports increased by 33.6% compared to the same period in 2022 and 13.0% compared to 2019.
Lisbon Airport handled 51.8% of all passengers (12.9 million), having grown by 36.9% compared to the same period in 2022 (+10.1% compared to the same period in 2019).
Porto Airport accounted for 22.7% of all passengers and increased by 32.0% (+14.5% compared to the same period in 2019), while Faro Airport recorded a growth of 24.0% (+6.2% compared to the same period in 2019).
Looking at the volume of passengers that departed and departed on international flights between January and May 2023, the UK overtook France and emerged as the leading country of origin for flights, with a growth of 28.2% compared to the same period in 2022.
France took second place, recording an increase of 24.9%, but remained the main destination for flights, followed by the United Kingdom.
On the other hand, Spain ranked third as the main country of origin and destination.
With regard to the movement of goods and mail, it declined by 3.0% in May on an annual basis, to 19.1 thousand tons, down by 5.1% from May 2019.
