Last Wednesday (14th), Anak signed two letters of intent for the certification of electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOL). Agreements were signed with the European Civil Aviation Authority, EASA and the UK Civil Aviation Authority, CAA-UK.

Although they are at an early stage of development, eVTOL is already a trend in aviation that should become a reality in the coming years, which is why Anac is already studying the regulations for the certification of these air vehicles. The agreements signed between the authorities during the conference formalize the scope of joint action between the aforementioned civil aviation authorities to develop e-VTOL certification, share experiences and work collaboratively.

eVTOL should bring improvements in air transport over short and medium distances, with greater integration with cities, lower noise levels (compared to helicopters) and alignment with sustainable practices, with zero pollution. In Brazil, air operators are increasingly interested in operating this new technology.

The agreements were signed during the EASA-FAA Safety Conference in Cologne, Germany, with the participation of the world’s major regulatory agencies.
