Luna, a 4-year-old girl, had about 40 stitches in her face after she was attacked by a dog while at a friend’s house at school. The girl also needed plastic surgery to close the wounds.

The mother, Amy Hobson, 32, says she had to go to hospital by taxi because it would take hours for the ambulance to get to the scene. She says she had to throw punches and kicks to get her daughter out of the jaws of the American bully dog.

In an interview with The Mirror tabloid, Amy said the dog charged at her, but she scolded him. Thus, the animal’s attention turned to Luna, who yelled out the dog’s name to play with it.

“He grabbed her face and threw her to the ground. I was kicking and punching the dog to get him off her. I picked my daughter up from the ground and called 911 immediately.”

Since the incident, Amy has lashed out at the dog’s owner and claims they are no longer friends because after the attack took place, the dog was hidden from the police for over 24 hours.

Fortunately, Luna is safe at home after a few days in the hospital. The mother says the baby is “still smiling” after being badly injured. Doctors estimate that a full recovery will take at least a year.
