TASS – At a press conference after talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western sanctions against Russia, as well as Belarus, will be implemented in any case and a reason will be found for this.
“Sanctions will be imposed in any case. Whether they have a reason today, for example, in connection with the events in Ukraine, or there is no such reason – they will be found, because the goal is different, in this case the goal is to slow development,” said the Russian leader. “To this end, there will always be reason to impose some illegal restrictions, which is nothing more than unfair competition,” the Russian president added.
He stressed that the pressure of sanctions is “totally illegitimate.”
“This is a flagrant violation of international law, but those who are talking about it now (about possible new sanctions) are concerned about it (international law) only when it is in their interest. And when it is not in their interest, they forget all about it,” said Putin. “.

The Russian president noted that today many countries are facing the consequences of sanctions, “even the allies of the United States.”
