The English Channel records the passage of immigrants

The UK has called the number of immigrants trying to cross the English Channel illegally from France “unacceptable” after a record number in the last 24 hours.

Yesterday, about 1,000 people crossed the English Channel into England in small boats. This is a new record in a crisis that has been growing for years.

“British citizens are tired of seeing people die on the English Channel, while ruthless criminal groups are benefiting from their misery,” a British Interior Ministry spokesman said.

The new figure will surpass the previous record of 853 set earlier this month (November 3), according to Interior Ministry data.

Today, French authorities say three migrants who tried to cross the canal at Kayaks have gone missing.

“Two crash victims can be rescued by the national police ship ‘Yuleem’. Unfortunately, three more people are missing,” Costway said in a statement.

Irregular diversions of the English Channel have increased since 2018, despite the risk associated with the density of sea traffic, strong currents and low water temperatures.
