The US has finally announced when the borders will be reopened to vaccinated foreign tourists: November 8. The date applies to both air and land travelers.

Official entry rules will be submitted today (15) for approval by the White House and should contain a mandatory full vaccination and negative covid-19 test, as well as detailed contact information.

Some entities, such as the American Travel Association and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), commented on the news and talked about the importance of having an appointment to plan trips. Check the data below.

“US Travel has long advocated for the safe reopening of our borders, and we welcome the Biden government’s announcement of a specific date for receiving vaccinated international travelers.

The date is so important to planning – for airlines, the companies that support travel, and for the millions of travelers around the world who will now make plans to visit the United States again. Reopening the door for international visitors will shock the economy and speed up the return of travel-related jobs lost due to travel restrictions.

We commend the administration for recognizing the value of international travel to our economy and country, and for its work to safely reopen our borders and reconnect America with the world.”

“It is great news that the US will reopen its borders to fully vaccinated travelers from the UK and EU from 8 November. It has been a long time, but travel and tourism companies on both sides of the Atlantic are breathing a sigh of relief.

Visitors from the European Union and the United Kingdom contributed more than $46 billion to the US economy in 2019, demonstrating how important this step is to the US recovery.

The WTTC believes that governments should eliminate red lists entirely and instead base the risks on individuals rather than entire countries.”
