In recent months, amid rising gasoline prices in Brazil, Uber riders have taken “chair tea” to be able to set off on rides via the app. In response to complaints, the company on Thursday, 14, announced an Uber Priority job, where users will be able to pay to board faster.
The functionality will initially be available in Campinas (SP), Curitiba (PR) and Belem (PA) — Uber claims the feature will work in the central region of cities, where boarding is long overdue. Without disclosing the values, the company says priority rides will “cost a bit more than those of UberX” and lead to more gains for app drivers.
Uber priority will appear as another option on the rider’s screen after they enter the destination address. According to Uber, the resource’s operating hours are not static and track the dynamics of movement in the city.
Complaints of flight cancellations have increased in recent months among riders on Uber and other ride-hailing apps. Part of the problem is due to the country’s high fuel prices, which make it difficult for drivers to operate. However, in a statement on Tuesday, the company mentioned another reason for launching Uber Priority.
“As it happens towards the end of the year and with further easing of the restrictive measures to combat Covid-19, the trend is to increase the number of travel requests and for the use of the platform to be more consistent,” Uber stated.
