The UK Foreign Office, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has released a set of new rules and recommendations for tourists traveling to Portuguese countries.
The country has seen a growth in the number of planes and tourists using the Portuguese climate to spend the summer, as the United Kingdom has added Portugal to its amber list and lifted the restrictions imposed by Covit-19.
The updated FCDO measures apply not only to Portugal but also to Spain, France and Greece.
Thus, the FCDO explains, UK residents who issue a Portuguese vaccine certificate or a negative test for Covit-19 are allowed to travel across the country or across the country (except for children under 12). National authorities accept PCR tests that are performed 72 hours before departure or 48 hours prior to departure.
The British also said, “They will be subjected to a medical examination on arrival. If your temperature is 38 degrees Celsius or higher or you are unwell, you should take another Covit-19 test and stay at the airport until you get the test results.
The FCDO advised the British not to use the NHS testing service to “facilitate travel”.
If the test is positive for Govt-19 upon arrival, the passenger should be isolated for 10 days. Unless the result is positive, you will not be able to make the return flight.
However, isolation restrictions apply to the arrival of unvaccinated individuals regardless of the results of the COVID-19 test.
“If you have traveled from the UK to the mainland of Portugal and have not been able to prove that you have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days, you should be isolated for 14 days at your place of residence or at the location specified by the Portuguese Health Commission. A few days before the trip,” the FCDO said.
“If you have traveled to India, Nepal, South Africa or Brazil, or any of these countries in the last 14 days, you should be isolated for 14 days wherever you are. Where specified or provided by the Portuguese health authorities.”
Isolation rules apply to passengers arriving by air or road, rail or sea.
The FCDO also recommends that travelers be informed of the restrictions in place in the country, with the requirement to issue vaccination certificates and negative tests at multiple locations.
