Covid: After 15 crew members contracted the virus, the ship is quarantined in Vila Velha
Fifteen crew members of the ship, which has been moored since Wednesday at the port of Kapupa, in the city of Espiritu Santo in Vila Velha, have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. Thus, all 22 people on board the ship are isolated and will remain in quarantine for 14 days. Among the injured, two were taken to hospital in Vitoria, the state capital.
According to the Espiritu Santo Health Department (Sesa), the situation is being monitored, along with the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa). The ship, according to the state agency, came from the Philippines. All people on board had a RT-PCR test on the day they arrived in the state.
“Sesa clarifies that crews who test positive for the disease will undergo a new test within 14 days, and if there is any positive result in this group, it will be necessary to conduct a new quarantine,” the Ministry of Health says, in a statement through your advice.
According to the agency, there is still no information about the variants that infected the crew. However, according to the Ministry of Health protocol, an investigation will be conducted for strains from South Africa, the United Kingdom and India.
