Zelensky urges von der Leyen to speed up more sanctions and financial aid

a Today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to prepare a new package of sanctions against Russia, which, if implemented, would be the eighth since the beginning of the Russian invasion in more than six months. .

In a tweet posted late Sunday morning, Zelensky said he spoke by phone with von der Leyen and discussed financial aid to his country and sanctions that included a visa ban for Russian citizens to put pressure on Russia.

Zelensky said he has also coordinated measures to curb excessive Russian energy profits.

Remember that the Russian invasion began 193 days ago, in the early hours of February 24, and since then, many countries of the world have united in favor of Ukraine against Russia.

Sanctions are piling up, but so far they do not appear to be effective in stopping the Russian offensive.

There are already seven sanctions packages in place.
