The United Kingdom, made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, is expected to host Euro 2028 along with Ireland.. The application deadline ends next Wednesday, but so far no other interested country has applied.

Only the British-Irish official bid has been made to UEFA so far. If the scenario remains unchanged by the end of Wednesday, the HQ confirmation process may be accelerated. UEFA’s executive committee is expected to announce the decision on April 7.

Other interested countries withdrew from the process after the UK and neighboring countries received support from UEFA. Prior to that, the British government had expressed its desire to host the 2030 World Cup, but the English Football Association conducted a study indicating that there were “doubts” in this proposal.

The last edition of the European Nations Cup, in 2020 (and was held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), was held in 11 cities in 11 different countries. The next one will be in 2024, in Germany.
