    On Saturday the 9th of next month, Nova Veneza will host the Fodaxman International Extreme Triathlon, which has been held in the city for five years. The athletes will compete in distances of 4 km swimming, 173 km cycling, and 42 km running. In this edition, 50 athletes are registered, and in addition to the Brazilians coming from different states, competitors from the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Argentina, Spain and France also arrive in the south of the state. In this edition, the race returns to the Serra do Rio do Rastro region towards the Urubici region.

    The start will be in the dark, at 4 am, at the Rio São Bento Dam with a swim of 4,000 metres, then switching to Urubici, passing through Serra do Rio do Rastro, a distance of 172 kilometers with an elevation gain of about 3,650 metres. The final stage is the run that leaves central Europe, ending at the summit of Morro da Igreja, 42 kilometers away and 1,250 meters high.

    In addition to the need for high-level physical preparation, the emotional part is key throughout the way. “It is an international level competition and we have brought it to the South, precisely because of the geography that makes this competition one of the toughest in the world. “The entire route, along with the Serra do Río do Rastro and Church Hill, offers a high altitude as it reaches the finish Only well-equipped athletes,” notes Fernando Palhares, one of the organizers of the event.

    The athletes will participate in a technical conference in Nova Veneza on Friday the 8th at the Municipal Theater. The start of the race begins on Saturday the 9th of this month at 4 a.m. at the São Bento River Dam in Cediropolis, and the first athletes are expected to stroll through the central streets of Nova Veneza starting at 5 a.m. The results and award ceremony will be announced on Sunday the 10th of this month in Oropesi.

    The event is part of the XTri World Tour, which brings together the toughest triathlons on the planet. The first athletes are expected to complete the race in the mountainous municipality for 12 hours.
