Judge Arthur Engoron had prevented the Republican from pleading in court; The right has yet to be granted
The trial of former US President Donald Trump was characterized by debate after he attempted to present his arguments today, Thursday (January 11, 2024). He clashed with Judge Arthur Engoron after criticizing New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The Republican was denied the right to speak before the trial began because he did not sign restrictions aimed at preventing him from using the court as a political platform.
However, Engoron allowed Trump to make brief comments after his attorney spoke. The judge insisted that the Republican candidate for the White House respect the rules of the court.
“They want to make sure I never win again [uma eleição]. she [Letitia James] He hates me and if I can't talk about it, it's a disservice.”This was announced by the former president after his speech was approved.
In response, Engoron asked Donald Trump's lawyer “Control your customer”.
Trump was indicted on September 21, 2022 by Letitia James. He is accused of inflating family property values in bank and insurance company statements in order to obtain better loans.
The New York Attorney General is asking the Republican to pay a $370 million fine to the state if he is found guilty. Earlier, the Attorney General had requested a fine of $250 million from the former US President.
