The T20 World Cup final in England will be played on free TV, says Jos Butler

And Jos Butler wants the T20 World Cup final against Pakistan on Sunday to be shown on free-to-air TV in the UK.

Sky Sports is the sole UK television rights holder for the tournament, but the satellite broadcaster has in recent years been involved in some major sporting events with terrestrial channels.

In 2019, England’s 50-win World Cup final was broadcast simultaneously on Sky and Channel 4, drawing an audience of 8.3m, and there are hopes a similar deal could be struck for the final this weekend.

“I will be very happy about that,” Butler said after his team beat India by 10 runs in Adelaide to set up a match against Pakistan at the MCG.

“That would be great for the game in our country. It would be great the number of eyes we can get in this final. It would be great if that happened.

“It is important that we always look for ways to develop our game and showcase cricket especially for the next generation. I really hope that is possible.”
