Ecoponte, in partnership with Ecosul and Eco101, franchisees of the EcoRodovias Group, is in the testing phase developing a pilot project for the installation of a multi-lane free flow system, which consists of toll charges without physical yards.

In this configuration, flow is free and payment is made by reading the license plate, accompanied by a tag affixed to the vehicle. Technology is, in practice, eliminating the toll yard, making traffic more fluid.

The system started operating on the Rio Santos Expressway, which is operated by CCR Group. Cameras and sensors are installed in the gantry cranes all the way around, to identify the license plate and vehicle model.

The project, which has been approved by the National Agency for Land Transportation (ANTT), aims to check the operational efficiency of the means of propulsion in the reality of the Rio Niteroi Bridge and to understand whether it will be effective.

The Research Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Lastran, is responsible for analyzing and collecting data and the studies will continue until 2024. The process is in the stage of procurement of equipment and software development and expectations are that the tests will begin in May.
