. The German brand took advantage of the proximity of one of the most important races in global motorsport, the Nürburgring 24 Hours, to show the world the new Golf GTI and Golf GTI Clubsport.
This latest version, previously unseen in the brand's range, is also the spiciest version ever of the Volkswagen Golf, one of the The world's best seller of all time
. According to the automaker, under the hood is the new 2.0-litre TSI EA888 Evo 4 engine with electronic front differential lock, capable of delivering 304 PS of power and 40.8 kg/m of torque to the driver. It works in conjunction with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Just for comparison purposes, the entry-level version delivers “only” 265 horsepower to the driver. The difference in engines is evident in the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in the two models. While the simplest Golf accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, the Clubsport version completes the task in 5.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h, but jumps to 267km/h with the optional 'Racing' package.

Volkswagen offers other components as accessories for those who want to spice up the fastest Golf in history: an Akaprovic exhaust system and 19-inch Warmenau wheels, which reduce the car's weight by around 8 kg per rim.
VW promises more “party” for the Golf
Volkswagen also revealed that it has no intention of ending the celebration of the Golf's 50th anniversary anytime soon. He announced upcoming events to honor the veteran, but the door for renewal is open.
