London, UK- South Korean striker Son Heung-min, from Tottenham, announced on Wednesday (9/11) via his Instagram account that he will participate in the 2022 World Cup, which begins in two weeks, despite suffering a broken face last week against Olympique de. Marseille in the Champions League.

“Playing for your country in the World Cup is the dream of many boys, as it was mine. I would not miss it for anything in the world. I am really looking forward to representing our beautiful country. See you later,” the player wrote in a letter thanking the fans for the support they received after his injury.

Son underwent surgery late last week to “strengthen a fracture around his left eye” after colliding with Olympic defender Chancel Mbemba in Tottenham’s 2-1 win in France.

His participation in the World Cup seemed uncertain, despite the precedent of Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, who suffered the same injury shortly before the 2021 European Championship and was able to play it from the second match.

The captain of the South Korean national team, who played 106 matches and scored 35 goals, Son is a true idol in his country, which led him to win the 2018 Asian Games.

However, the South Korean will not play again with Tottenham, who will face Nottingham Forest on Wednesday in the League Cup and at the weekend against Leeds in the Premier League, before releasing his players.

South Korea is part of Group H at the World Cup and will make their debut on November 24 against Uruguay, before meeting Ghana and then Portugal.
