Renata Vasconcelos, presenter of “Jornal Nacional”, has reflected on her professional and personal life in times of pandemic. In an interview with Claudia, the journalist stated that she began to question her own habits and customs:
It has been such a change in so many aspects of life, and I believe there is no way I could not continue without any change. I found myself wondering about many things that were automatic, requiring more mindful consumption. I wonder if you really need to buy that and what impact it has on the environment. We understand that speeding up everyday life, that commitment to performing tasks, and trying to meet other people’s expectations in order to be perfect, doesn’t make sense. Commenting on the current work routine, Renata said she is now dealing with more weekend shifts and holidays and that in addition to the added burden, there is the emotional issue of press coverage of the pandemic.

“I also love reading, connecting with nature, keeping my feet on the ground, and being silent. I love staying home, the symbolism of being a sanctuary, and a nest. I try to cultivate this by making comfort food, like a cake with coffee,” he said.
I really like the idea of surrounding myself with beauty, which is a very versatile and important concept for humans. Art and culture are beautiful tools for us to transcend, overcome emotional difficulties, live and survive. I love the concept of beauty and I don’t think we should give it up. It is a wealth that must be developed. What is beautiful, to me, can be to take time to breakfast in peace, to have fun, to look at the beautiful pottery I have and to think of the path I took there.
