Premier League updates COVID-19 procedures for Premier League matches

The Premier League released a memo on Wednesday touting some new measures against Covid-19. The organization issued a decision not to show the vaccination card to enter the stadiums and changed the guidelines for postponing the Premier League matches.

The UK introduced an easing of Covid-19 restrictions and the Prime Minister made changes. From now on, if a club requests to postpone a match due to an insufficient number of players due to the virus, it must have at least four positive cases in its team.

When the team does not have 13 players and a goalkeeper for the match due to infection, injuries, illness and/or isolation by covid-19, the postponement will be accepted.

The application will be evaluated on a case by case basis. The board examines several factors, including a team’s ability to form a team: status, intensity, emotional impact, and players’ ability to prepare and play safely.

“The request should be submitted as soon as possible before the match, to provide clarity to fans and clubs. As well as to ensure that the board has all the details necessary to make an informed decision,” the statement read.
