Marcelo Melo and German Alexander Zverev will make their debut at the Masters 1000 in Madrid on Tuesday. The pair will enter the stadium around 8:30 am (Brazilian time) to face Britain’s Cameron Norrie and American Tommy Ball.
At the tournament in Madrid, which continues the European season on clay, Milo and Zverev will be together again on the field after the row, in April, around the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, where they reached the quarter-finals. Before, they also played in the ATP 500 in Acapulco and the ATP 250 in Montpellier.
Melo arrived in Madrid on Wednesday last week, accompanied by his brother and coach Daniel Melo. “We are going to that debut, to the Masters 1000 this season, after these days of training here,” the tennis player said.
The Brazilian won the title in Madrid in the 2017 edition alongside Poland’s Lukasz Kubot and will compete in his 13th Masters Championship on Spanish clay. In the world doubles rankings released on Monday, Milo finished 42nd.
If he wins the competition, Marcelo Melo will add the 36th title in his career, surpassing Bruno Soares, also from Minas Gerais, to reach the status of the Brazilian record holder for titles in this category.
