LinkedIn announced that it will lay off 716 employees and phase out an app that offers local jobs in China. The changes to the platform were reported on Monday (8).

LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky sent a statement to employees saying the cuts were meant to streamline the company’s operations. Layoffs must occur in the sales, operations and support sectors.

“We’re also removing layers, reducing management roles, and expanding responsibilities for faster decision-making,” he said.

On the other hand, the CEO mentioned that the changes will also save 250 jobs. Employees who would be affected by the cuts will be able to apply.

In connection with operations in China, LinkedIn should deactivate the service it offers in the country, known as InCareer, in August.
