Joao Gomez Appears For His Rock Debut In Rio In A Limited Space In "After" Justin Bieber | Rock in Rio 2021

Rock’s first weekend in Rio ended with two shows that had an inverse relationship between stage size and the singer’s mood.

After Justin Bieber put on a relaxing show on a giant Palco Mundo, João Gomes put in the effort and made fans in front of the stage sing and pause curiously to stretch the night in front of a small promotional tent on Sunday (4).

This was João Gomes’ first concert at Rock in Rio and his debut at the piseiro festival, keyboard-based forró.

The low volume did not help, but there was no lack of animation in songs such as “Dengo” and “Meu Piece of Sin”, which nowadays are heard much more often than the songs of most Brazilian attractions on the biggest stages.

He did an alternate show with Rio de Janeiro DJ Pedro Sampaio. Joao Gomez, enthusiastic, even danced on stage to the tunes of fellow pop music as “Dançarina”, a touch that gravitated slightly to Foro with a band from Pernambuco.

“If you have a dream, don’t let anyone make fun of it,” Joao Gomez said at the start of the show. “I’m here today in Rock in Rio and showing a little piece of our culture.”

Later, he took the flag of Pernambuco from a fan on the network: “I’m from Pernambuco and I’m here today in Rock in Rio,” said João Gómez, before singing an excerpt from “Qui nem Jiló” and praising Luis Gonzaga.
