Last Thursday, August 15, 2024, Caixa Econômica Federal began launching the payment of the salary allowance for the year 2024, referring to the base year 2022. About 3.5 million workers born in November and December are eligible for the benefit, for a total of R$3.7 billion.

The bonus amounts vary according to the working days in 2022. If you have a current or savings account with Caixa, the balance will be provided automatically. For others, the money is deposited in the digital social savings, managed by the Caixa Tem app.

    What is salary allowance?

The salary allowance is a benefit reserved for workers who meet certain requirements, such as being registered with PIS/Pasep for at least five years and having been officially employed for at least 30 days in the base year with an average wage of up to two minimum wages. It is necessary for the employer to correctly report the worker's data in the annual Social Information List (Rais).

How do you know if you are eligible for a salary bonus?

To ensure that you are eligible for the salary allowance, follow these steps:

    • Make sure you have been registered with PIS/Pasep for at least five years.
    • Make sure you have officially worked for at least 30 days in 2021.
    • Make sure your average wage is up to the minimum wage.
    • Make sure that the employer has entered your data correctly in the rice.

What are the ways to get a salary bonus?

The benefit can be obtained in several ways. See below:

    1. The balance will be deposited automatically for workers who have a current or savings account at Caixa.
    1. For those who do not have these accounts, the amount is available in digital social savings, operated through the Caixa Tem application.
    1. If there are difficulties in opening the digital account, the withdrawal can be made using the social card and password at self-service terminals, lottery outlets, Caixa Aqui correspondents, or directly at Caixa branches.

Why is it important to care about salary allowance?

A salary allowance can make a huge difference to workers’ budgets, especially those with lower salaries. It is also a right that is guaranteed provided the conditions are met. Therefore, it is essential to check your eligibility and deadlines so that you do not miss out on this important benefit.

If you are a private sector worker, Caixa Econômica Federal will make your payment. Public employees registered with Pasep should contact Banco do Brasil.

Use the information above to learn about the 2024 salary allowance and make sure you don’t miss out on any entitlement that could bring you financial relief this year. Pay attention to the criteria and deadlines to ensure you get the benefit you are entitled to.
