On Saturday (13), Sweden won the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, which is considered the largest music competition in Europe. The award was given to Swedish singer Loren, 39, who topped the podium for the second time in her career, now with the single “Tattoo”, which was released in 2023.
“I’m so happy. Thank you so much for this. This is for you,” she said, moved as she received the award.
With this win, Sweden reached their seventh title, and tied with Ireland as the biggest winners.
Individually, Lauren reached another milestone: She became the second artist in history to win the festival twice. She won the award in 2012 with the song “Euphoria”. The two-time Champion Irish Artist is Irishman Johnny Logan, who achieved a double for the country in the 1980s.
Lauren’s victory in the 2023 edition was close. With 583 points, the Swedish artist bested Finnish rapper Karega who fired after the public vote and ended the feud with 526 votes for “Cha Cha”.
The third place went to Israel with the song “Unicorn” by singer Noa Kirill.
This year’s celebration was held in Liverpool, UK, and involved 26 nations in the recent dispute.
