Chrome 92 released with interface improvements, new privacy features, and more

Available this Tuesday (20) by The Google, Chrome 92 comes to users with some news and features that focus on privacy and security in use, while also relying on some productivity-oriented tools, which have gained many new features in the latest browser updates.

The latest update also brought some improvements in browser performance and general fixes, and fixes major bugs and problems reported by users. Overall, version 92 has more site permission management and implements new quick access actions.

One of the main features that came to Chrome 92 is the ability to follow websites, a function that allows you to receive personalized notifications and follow the news published by certain web pages.

In the smartphone version, you can use the new adaptive button to insert a custom shortcut, allowing you to add a button to open tabs, share a page, or enable voice search. The developer has also enabled a mode in which the application itself determines which option should be set according to the usage habits.

  • New API: It allows you to open applications of the type Progressive Web Application (PWA) using Chrome 92;
  • Media Session API: Allows buttons used on video conferencing sites/software to be displayed in Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode;
  • Memories: A new way to find websites in your browsing history.

Update availability

Chrome 92 was officially released on Tuesday (20), but not all users have received the new version of the browser, so you should wait for the update to arrive for everyone, which should happen in the next few days.

Update manually

  1. access the left menu and go to “Settings”;
  2. In the right pane, go to the “About Chrome” tab and check if an update is available;
  3. Download if there is and restart your browser.
