Being invisible on WhatsApp is a common desire among users, whether to escape unwanted conversations or to keep their privacy intact.

The good news is that this feature is enabled and can be used on both Android and iPhone (iOS) devices, as well as the web version of the app.

Information such as online status, “last seen” and reading confirmation (the famous blue tick) can be deactivated through the app settings. Below, follow our step-by-step guide to avoid being seen online and delaying responses to received messages.

Learn how to remove online status from WhatsApp

The first step to using WhatsApp secretly is to disable the “Online” status. This feature, available to all users since August 2022, allows you to hide availability information that usually appears below the username. Follow these instructions:

    • Open the WhatsApp application.
    • Click on the menu (three dots) in the upper right corner.
    • Then go to “Settings”.
    • On the next screen, select “Privacy“.
    • The first option that will appear is “Last seen and online.” Click on it.
    • Now, you’ll be able to choose who can see when you were last logged in and when you were online.
    • In the Internet section, choose the “Nobody” option.
    • This will make it appear as if you are not using the app.

It is worth noting that when you choose to hide the Online status, you will also not be able to see the online status of other contacts.

What if I want to disable read receipt?

Removing the famous “blue tick” that confirms that a message has been read is another important trick to maintain your privacy in the app. Follow the following steps:

    • Open the WhatsApp application.
    • Tap the Settings icon at the top right (Android) or bottom right (iOS).
    • In Settings, tap the Privacy option.
    • Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and disable the Read Receipts option.
    • Now, you will be able to read messages and view the status of any contact without them knowing.

These are just some of the tricks available for those who want to use WhatsApp more discreetly and protect their privacy.

However, it is important to remember that when you choose these settings, you will also not be able to see some information about your contacts, such as “last seen” and “online” status. Therefore, choose the settings that suit your personal needs and preferences.
