The Blizzard boss used his official account to debunk rumors about Diablo IV coming to Xbox Game Pass.

Mike Ybarra spoke after payment app PicPay featured the company’s latest RPG as one of the games available on Microsoft’s subscription service.

In a terse response, Mike Ybarra took to Twitter to say that Diablo IV will not be added to Xbox Game Pass, something that will disappoint many users who were excited about the possibility.

While Blizzard says it has no plans to bring Diablo IV to Xbox Game Pass, the head of the Xbox division said the company intends to put Activision Blizzard titles on its subscription service if the acquisition is approved by major regulators.

Last September, Phil Spencer said that Microsoft was intent on adding games like Overwatch, Diablo, and Call of Duty to Xbox Game Pass and allowing the communities of those games to grow.

Last Tuesday (11), Microsoft won the legal battle against the FTC in the United States, bringing the completion of the acquisition of Activision closer. Now, the Xbox owner will need to speak to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA in the original acronym) in the UK and come to an agreement.

Released in June, Diablo IV is already one of Activision Blizzard’s biggest hits to date. In the first five days after launch on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, the title made US$666 million.
