Ari Peixoto says he “launched in 5 minutes” on the network

Reporter Ari Peixoto spoke about the details of the resignation on TV Globo, which was announced in October. The 65-year-old expert reporter resigned on the same day Alberto Gaspar left the company.

The journalist stated that talk of the departure was swift in an interview with the program “Cidinha Livre”, on the Super Rádio Tupi in Rio de Janeiro.

During his interview with the media, Sidenha Campos, the journalist revealed his disappointment with the way the communication was cut off.

“I knew it could happen. They’re 34 years with the company, 65 years old. But based on the history I have with the network, I was hoping things would happen differently,” he explained.

Ari recalled his work as a reporter in Jerusalem (Israel) and Buenos Aires (Argentina), as well as reporting at home during the pandemic. The network appointed him in 1987.

“You stunned this class,” he added in sequence. “You think the president will have consideration and respect for preparing you, and explain to him that you’ll be fired.”

In October, O Dia published a farewell letter written by Ari Peixoto to his colleagues. He said he was “grateful” for his career built on TV Globo.

Crisis in Globo

As reported by Splash columnist Jilherme RavashiGlobo closed the first half of 2021 with a loss of R$144 million. The figure represents a deterioration of 122% compared to 2020, when the company incurred a loss of R$51 million in the same period.

The negative result draws attention, since in 2019 the company has made continuous cuts in staff.
