Reporter Ari Peixoto spoke about the details of the resignation on TV Globo, which was announced in October. The 65-year-old expert reporter resigned on the same day Alberto Gaspar left the company.

“I knew it could happen. They’re 34 years with the company, 65 years old. But based on the history I have with the network, I was hoping things would happen differently,” he explained.

Ari recalled his work as a reporter in Jerusalem (Israel) and Buenos Aires (Argentina), as well as reporting at home during the pandemic. The network appointed him in 1987.

“You stunned this class,” he added in sequence. “You think the president will have consideration and respect for preparing you, and explain to him that you’ll be fired.”

In October, O Dia published a farewell letter written by Ari Peixoto to his colleagues. He said he was “grateful” for his career built on TV Globo.

Crisis in Globo
