Argentina announces salary increase for researchers

Filmus stated that the agreement “will be a key point in the country’s recovery” by affecting 15,000 members of the Scientific and Technological Career (CIC) and Career and Technical Support (CPA) profession, and more than 12,000 PhD fellows.

The minister stressed that “this is the decision of the President of the Republic, accompanied by the Minister of Economy, in his belief that science and technology are necessary for the country’s recovery.”

Franchi, in turn, said: “The significant loss of salaries that occurred in the organization during the previous government meant that many did not continue or decided not to start a scientific career.”

Conicet’s new agreement joins investments made in April this year and November 2021, when the Argentine government granted 10% of the budget to the sector on both occasions.
