A lottery was held in Ohio, in the United States, where two people were rewarded for vaccination against Covid-19, in a program to encourage the immunization of young people and adults. One of the winners, Abigail Boginsk, will receive $ 1 million (about 5.26 million BRL), while the second winner, Joseph Costello, 14, will be able to study at any state university using government-funded books, education and accommodation.
According to the Associated Press, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said that more than 2.7 million adults and 104,000 adolescents who have been vaccinated have applied to run in the raffle. Building on the success of this campaign, he revealed that he plans to draw four more prizes.
“We are very pleased that this has resulted in many people in Ohio being vaccinated, and we are excited to announce the winners of the first series of drawings,” said Mike.
Abigail revealed that he learned of the prize through a call from the governor himself. “I started screaming in my room that I was a millionaire. My parents thought there was something wrong with me and they needed to calm me down. I only believed it when a lot of people started following me and started getting a lot of notifications,” he said.
