The “WFSB” announcer reported that she was charged with first-degree theft and third-degree forgery, for forging the husband’s signature on documents, pension checks, agreements and social security, as well as mortgaging certain belongings, such as jewelry and rare coins.

The accused explained in her testimony that she deceived her husband by misdiagnosing Alzheimer’s, believing that this would prevent him from going to the bank and discovering that his balance was weak. As for the money, she said she used it to defray the expenses of her relatives.

When her husband asked her about the illness, Donna replied that he did not remember the doctor’s appointment. The man ended up believing because his mother suffered from this disease which can also infect him.

Suspicions of something wrong arose in 2019 after the victim’s daughter, identified as Elena, noticed her father’s credit ratings. However, a police complaint was only filed in March 2020, when the man reported that Donna had been controlling his savings since 1999. Investigators then verified that the woman had deposited his money into a bank account she had kept secret. They also discovered that Donna used a power of attorney to defraud her income tax return in the victim’s name.
