    The Niagara Falls region in Canada has declared a state of emergency ahead of a rare total solar eclipse, which is expected to occur on April 8. The place often receives crowds due to its popular waterfalls. In this case, the crowd could cause injury to tourists.

    On Thursday the 28th, the head of the region, Jim BradleyA state of emergency was declared to prevent damage to the area's infrastructure.

    The regional administration informed that “the declaration of a state of emergency strengthens the tools available to the region to protect the health and safety of residents and visitors.”

    The eclipse draws crowds to Niagara Falls

    The famous Niagara Falls is located on the border between Canada and the United States. It is on the path of eclipse. The event, which could happen on April 8, has caught the attention of many people, who have rented hotel rooms in advance to watch the phenomenon in one of North America's natural beauty spots.

    Ontario Mayor Jim Diodati predicted there would be “the largest crowd we've ever seen” on the Canadian side for the eclipse. Diodati estimated that up to one million people are expected to attend the site. The region usually receives 14 million for an entire year.

    The region must also change the way services operate and close some facilities to keep traffic off the roads on April 8.
