A 24-year-old man was arrested Monday for climbing the world’s fifth-tallest building, the Lotte World Tower, without safety ropes. The 123-storey building is located in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.

He was identified by the South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo as George King Thompson, a native of the United Kingdom who produces various content for social networks by climbing, skydiving, and doing other extreme sports.

King-Thompson was caught in another similar situation a few years ago. The case occurred, according to British media, in 2019, when a climber climbed the Shard building in London, 310 meters high.

Reuters claims that the Briton had been climbing for just over an hour and had already climbed to the 73rd floor when South Korean authorities forced him down.

A fire department official told the outlet that authorities ordered him into a maintenance cradle so he could reach the ground, and shortly thereafter, the climber was taken into custody for questioning.
