With 61 years of history, Brasilia is known for its mega projects in architecture and for housing the main political center of the country, and it was named as a trending destination by the Tourism Ministry this year.

This rise to the top positions can be explained because, previously, the reference city was already in the list of Brazilians, in 2020 Brasilia was the fourth most searched destination by Brazilians on Google, just behind the city of London, in the UK, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo .

The Ministry of Tourism has published a list of 21 tourist destinations for 2021, highlighting the city of Brasília, which reached the first place this year.

In addition to being in the spotlight from Brazilian tourists, one of the motivations was to crown the city of Brasília as a first in recognition of local tourism and other strong trends that have emerged due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition to domestic tourism, it is possible to mention as an example experience tourism, rural tourism and creative tourism.

The survey was conducted based on the main research sites in the sector, as well as publications and destinations that are in line with the demand of the new tourist.
